Beth completed a full assessment of the district in November of 2008 and presented the findings to the Board of Education in December. Santa Cruz is now focusing on wellness as a cornerstone for academic improvement for its population. A new Wellness Policy paired with the Assessment and Next Steps for the coming five years will hopefully yield a new paradigm for that district.

Beth completed an assessment of the district to discover the practicality of shifting from being a contract client of the local public district to transition to a self-operated scratch cooking system for this four-school, 1000 student district. Once the Board decided to move forward the project included Wellness Policy Development, Strategic Planning, Central Kitchen Renovation plans and oversight, POS implementation, all procurement systems and vendor relationships, menus, production systems, software purchasing and recipe database implementation and training, staff training and professional development for existing staff, hiring and training of director, sous chef and production team, presentations and training for administration and faculty. Work moving forward will focus on curricular integration with nutrition, physical activity, and dining services to keep strategic plan on track.
